Smith Park and the surrounding streets in Downtown Jackson, Mississippi will come alive and
be bustling with art and culture on Friday, May 13th and Saturday, May 14th, 2011. Jackson Mississippi downtown Church Community and the City of Jackson Human
and Cultural Services Department will host the “ free to the public” Arts Alive Downtown
Jackson Fine Arts and Crafts Festival.
Arts and Crafts
Some of Mississippi’s best sculptors, craftsmen, painters, musicians, actors and dancers will
present exhibits and performances, in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere that will be culturally
enriching, fun, and attractive to audiences of all ages. Fine Arts and Crafts vendors will create and sell their works.
Children's area
Arts Alive! features several activities for children. Those include an Origami Crane station from the Mississippi Museum of Art, bean bag toss and magician from Parents & Kids Magazine, an art station, and facepainting along with many more fun things for kids to do and see. Even children get in to the spirit of the arts at the festival.
PERFORMING aRTS
The Festival will feature almost nonstop music and dance including Jacob Gibson, classical guitar, John Paul, harpsichord, Mandy Mangrum, harp, and others will perform on both Friday and Saturday
under the Band Shell. Local private and public schools choirs, universities musical ensembles
and inspiring young vocalists and actors will entertain the audience with refreshing and varied
music and drama that will tantalize the artistic cultural senses. Check out the full schedule!
Duck Races
At various times both Friday and Saturday rubber DUCKS will race the winding course of the Smith Park Fountain. 
Highly trained, fiercely competitive
numbered racing DUCKS are available for: $5 each (or 5 ducks for $20!) and contact us if you would like to reserve your ducks in advance
You don't need to be present to WIN, but you'll want to!

Food
Food vendors from Jackson eateries will provide food for sale as well as samples of food for
promotion. Hamburgers, Hot Sausages and Popcorn will be cooked and sold by the Knights of
Columbus.
